In the beginning days acne light therapy was painful. However, improved technologies has led to modern methods that are almost painless. The main reason I there’s no pain involved is because your skin is only being exposed to the specific light for very short amounts of time. However, after the treatment your skin might feel burned, like after a sunburn. Compared with some other acne removal treatments this is very acceptable though, especially considering that we now have no known risks that we are currently aware of with acne light therapy. The skin is a little red afterwards, it might appeal, just like with a sunburn.

Unfortunately most insurance companies do not pay for photodynamic therapy as of yet. It is also more important than other forms of acne treatments. However, if acne light therapy proves to be effective and risk-free over the long-term, and superior to other methods, there’s going to be more demand, and with more demand it’s going to become possible to offer cheaper prices.
The interesting thing is that photodynamic therapy was not originally meant to treat acne. It was meant to treat cancer and actinic keratosis. But medical scientists found that it can be very effective in treating and curing acne. With very little side effects and risks, much less than those that are attached with medical treatments or acne surgery.
